Personalising your Bedroom

best ways to personalize your bedroom

Your bedroom is the most personal place in your home. It’s the one space where you don’t invite guests. If you’ve got kids, it might be the only room in your house that hasn’t been taken over by their toys and books, and this is important. We all need some privacy, space where we can relax, unwind, and feel safe. Somewhere we can be ourselves, either on our own or with our partners. It’s always good to have a room in your home that isn’t designed with your guests in mind. That’s just yours. This is where you are free to show your personality and experiment with your tastes. Within this, you might want to find ways to personalise the room, so that it’s unique and entirely yours.

Get Crafty

Perhaps the very best way to personalise your bedroom or any other area in your home is to get crafty. If you make things yourself, they are sure to be one of a kind. Even if many other people have made similar things, you made yours. It was created with love. You might want to make wall art or something for your door using a vinyl cutting machine that you can read about at vinylcuttingmachineguide.com. Or, you could make your own cushions and bedspreads, as well as other textiles.

If your arts and craft skills are relatively limited, you might want to try photo frames and other simple crafts or try making wall art using craft supplies. Have some fun and experiment, even if you don’t think you are very good. It could be relaxing and enjoyable, and it’ll certainly add some personality to your room. Pinterest can be an excellent source of craft ideas.

Frame Things

Put something in a frame, and it instantly looks classier and more expensive. But, art can be costly, and prints are very common. If you want to have something on your wall that no one else has got, think outside the box frame pictures from magazines, wallpaper samples, art paper, or even wrapping paper. If you like the look of something, put it in a frame.

Display Photos

Minimalism is cool. But, it’s not always personal. Less stuff means less chance to add some of yourself. Even if you want to keep your furniture minimal, add some photos display pictures of your family and friends and images that remind you of happy times. Your bedroom should be filled with memories and things that make you smile.

Add a Rug

Carpet and wooden floors can be stylish and sophisticated. But are they fun? Add an area rug to your bedroom, and it adds a splash of colour and gives you something nice and soft to step on when you get out of bed in the morning.

Don’t Neglect the Scent

Your bedroom should welcome you in and help you to relax at the end of the day. The scent is an integral part of this. Find something that you like, but keep it delicate. You don’t want anything overpowering, or that will keep you awake. If you struggle to fall asleep, many people find lavender and similar aromas helpful.
