Dizzy Miss James - Website Revamp

It's time for a fresh start, a new beginning and a bit of a business revamp!

Sometimes you just have to move forward, take a leap and shake things up a bit. I'm at a point in my life where things are changing and I'm entering a new chapter. As part of this process I have started to give my website www.dizzymissjames.co.uk a bit of a very much needed update. I have changed text and the boring behind the scenes stuff but mainly I have had some shiny new product shots taken (I still have a few photos that need updating). The lovely Diana Stainton has done a rather fantastic job don't you think? I am really please with the outcome!

I'm also looking forward to getting back into producing some new designs and releasing brand new products. Alongside this I will be developing the site bit by bit instead of all at once. That way I won't get all stressed trying to get everything finished and done all together. It will be a labour of love and it will grow and develop over the next few weeks.

Watch this space!

Why not check my website out I'd love to know what you think of it so far?

An Open Letter to Blogtacular

My Dearest Blogtacular,

Over three weeks have passed since we were last together. Three weeks since our lives collided and we had the most amazing memorable weekend. A weekend full of colour, knowledge and friendship.  It has taken me this long to process everything that happened back then. It has taken me this long to calm my mind from its state of excitement and sort through the numerous ideas you have left behind. After all how could I not be so enthused and passionate when you provided me with such a spectacular programme. When you gave me inspirational speakers, workshops and pretty much advice on tap. Over those two days you showed me the beauty in the simple things, the strength of a community and the drive and creativity within me.

You brought people together to a place were I could network with other like minded creatives. A place where I could connect and share experiences. As I met these amazingly inspirational people I knew that this weekend was going to be a something I would always remember.

Blogtacular you were kind enough to think about me and my dietary needs unlike many before. You provided me with vegetarian options for breakfast, snacks and lunch. Not just any veggie food the most delicious of all. For that I thank you!

As the weekend unraveled and with each talk I listened to, like that of Lisa Congdon, Kate O'Sullivan and Enid Hwang. I became filled with warmth, encouragement and the realisation that Im not in this alone. This business journey, this journey of self belief, growth and creativity is one that we all must travel. It is not easy but Blogtacular you showed me that others have the same fears and stresses. They share that feeling of doubt that niggling thought 'Im I doing the right thing'. They too are scared of failure. I learned that its okay to get it wrong. You learn form those experiences, you pick yourself up and continue on stronger, wiser and ready to kick butt!

However the weekend was not all about worries and concerns. Blogtacular you were a celebration of all that is accomplished and the successes you have as a creative blogger and business owner. Your Genius Bar hosted a collection of beautiful and successful professionals, offering out their advice and wisdom. Your workshops like Phoneography by Sara Tasker and the Writing Workshop by Laura Jane Williams provided me with the extra knowledge and skills to help me develop and grow.

And did I mention the wonderful people of Sudo, they came and welcomed me into their world. Allowing me to use their app over the course of the weekend and generously giving away prizes every hour. One of which I was lucky enough to receive!

Blogtacular I Thank You

I thank you for introducing me to new and exciting people, for sharing your knowledge and for inspiring me to push myself and move forward with my creative business goals. Blogtacular I want you to know you are still in my heart and even though a year must pass until we meet again I will never forget you.

Colourtastic & Fabulous - Blogtacular Photo Walk

Two weeks ago I was full of excitement and wonder as I packed my bags full of my most colourful outfits and headed down to London Town to attend my first ever Blogtacular. Blogtacular is a conference for bloggers and creatives alike to meet, share and inspire. Although I have attended many blogger events previously this was to be my first ever conference and I couldn't wait! If I'm completely honest it has taken me this long to absorb and digest everything that happened that weekend. My head has been bursting to the brim with information and inspiration and I just needed some time to get my head round it all and come down from my Blogtacular high. As a result I am having to split the weekend into 2 separate posts, Photo Walk and Conference.

On the Friday I was lucky enough to get a place on the annual photo walk around London. There were 2 photo walks and a video walk talking place simultaneously that day. I was located in Shoreditch were I got to meet other lovely creatives, be inspired and took lots of colourful, fun photos in a splendid location.

I'll just let the photos speak for themselves!

I loved the photo walk and I will definitely be going on walks in Newcastle and various other locations in the future. If you want to see more photos of the day why not check out the hashtag #blogtacularphotowalkeast on Twitter and Instagram.

Have you ever been on a photo walk?

Ninja Burger Launch - Bar 28 Newcastle

Ninja Burger launched for the first time in Newcastle on 2nd June at the award-winning late night Bar No28. I went along to the press and blogger event to sample some sliders and check them out.

Ninja Burger's passion is to create the most delicious burgers the city has seen. They apply their own secret seasoning before cooking 'sous vide' translated as 'under pressure'. Each burger comes with a butter enriched brioche bun from the local Geordie Bakers based in Kingston Park, baked overnight and delivered fresh to the kitchen in the morning. You all have the option to add Dirty Fries loaded with meatball chilli and mozzarella (£5) or Dutch War Chips  with satay sauce, fritesaus and dried onion (£4).

If there is any room left for desert  (£4) you can enjoy either a Raspberry Sorbet with berries and blackcurrant cocktail shooter. Or Sticky Toffee Pudding with a mini salted caramel flip and vanilla rice pudding in a filo cup with passion fruit coolis and a coconut rum Russian shooter. There is also a local ice cream sundae with a shot to amaretto or cafe patron poured over.

The vegetarian options are a Panko crumbed halloumi burger with puy lentils or a homemade falafel burger. I had the pleasure of trying the delicious falafel burger as pictured below.

After the menu samples we were treated to burger eating competitions the first being THE ULTIMATE BURGER CHALLENGEThree contestants on the night were up against each other to see how many sliders they could eat whilst being timed. The second competition was THE RUSSIAN ROULETTE CHALLENGEThis Russian Roulette style challenge had various strengths of spicyness - contestants had to keep a cool face as they bit into hot as hell goujons. The winner of each challenge won a £50 drinks voucher and well deserved it was.

And if all that wasn't enough the hilariously funny comedian Matt Reed was on hand to commentate  on the nights shenanigans.

A fun night was had by all!

National Vegetarian Week - Ko Sai Fenwicks

It was National Vegetarian Week a few weeks back so to celebrate I headed over to Ko Sai Restaurant in Fenwick Newcastle, where I met up with the lovely guys from NE Veggie Socials. Ko Sai is situated in the recently revamped food hall in Fenwick, serving a delight of Asian Cuisine inspired by cooked-on-the-spot food made by local street hawkers. Ko Sai had designed a veggie/vegan menu especially for National Vegetarian Week and I couldn't wait to try it out.

With such a selection of dishes on offer I found it hard to choose. In the end for my starter I opted for the Spicy Tofu, Spring Onion and Black Sesame Steamed Bun accompanied by a glass of pineapple, kiwi and apple fresh juice. The only problem was there wasn't enough, I was left wanting more!

I'm really into my tofu at the moment so for my main shizzle I had the Stir-fried Tofu, Black Bean, Stem Broccoli and Jasmine Rice. This had a fantastic kick to it, a lovely level of spice and combination of flavours. I could eat this dish again and again!

Although I joined NE Veggie Socials last year this was my first meet up with them due to a crazy schedule and house move. I had such a fun evening, great company, conversation and fantastic food. I can't wait to attend another Meetup with them!
